Override Blocked Extensions on the Fly

Hi,

We're running an UTM320.

In Web Filtering, as an Admin I am able to override a blocked URL by entering my login credentials using the "Unblock Url" button.  But when I attempt to download a blocked file extension on a client computer, there is no button.

Is there no way to do this?  Often I'm at a user's machine and need to download a driver or other piece of software and it would be great if I didn't have to log in to the utm to add a temporary override for the user's IP, or go to my own computer to download it then head back to the user's to copy it from my machine install it.

    This is by design (a design I disagree with BTW).

    There are a variety of workarounds, most of which you can guess.

    For anyone who is using authentication, the simplest thing is just to log into the workstation using your own credentials.  In some organizations where users don't have local admin rights someone from IT needs to log in anyway to install software.

    Yes, but we don't want to require authentication for our users to go on the web under normal circumstances.  Even if we did, our computer authentication is not tied to our network/radius (which is on open directory).  Ah well, maybe I'll just send in a feature request. Thanks.
