cache managment

Hi there,

Apart from the check-box named [Web Protection --> Filtering Options --> Misc --> Web Caching (and its 3 options below)] there isn't much we can gather about the proxy caching behaviors.

Is there any ways in the gui/logs to gather more information about cache hits/misses? Does the UTM include any Update Accelerator; thus keeping OS's update downloads in order to save bandwidth on further requests and so on?

    It would be nice that (like in ISA/TMG) at least there is cache hit/miss report in order to evaluate needs for it.

    With only enable "on/off" check box, Cache management in Sophos UTM is a Black Box for admins.

    As much as i agree with you i also have to say that Sophos/Astaro UTM is my 3rd FW/UTM setup after IPFire & pfSense, and honestly solely for its webfiltering delicacies; (what a joy it is for me to enable a block policy on the word "beyoncé") it's a keeper for sure. Though i can understand that caching/proxying might not had as much dev times as filtering which led me to this; what about squid on my Sophos UTM box?? =)

    squid was removed a while ago due to a decision by Astaro/Sophos.  Caching isn't that effective with the dynamic nature of webpagtes caching is more misses than hits by about 2 to 1 in many cases..[:)]
