hotspot for wired network based on voucher

if any one can share how to configure hotspot based on voucher for wired network as i dont want to use AP..

    You need to have a free network port on your UTM. Do not use your internal interface, you will lock yourself out.

    Create a new interface on this port, configure DHCP, DNS, Masquerading, etc.
    Then create a new hotspot and add this interface.

    By the way: Have a look at the UTM Online Help, the hotspot feature is well described there.

    i had tested but my query know is ..  

    i generated voucher and i am using internet from 2:30 and now its 4:13 still i can use internet and at the sophos portal its showing internet time usage of 33min only...

    how does the time calcutation done for this scenario

    voucher defination is
    valid period 7 day (the voucher should expire after 7 days)
    time quota 1 hour (i should get internet only for an hour)
    data volume 512 MB

    From the online help:

    • Validity period: Enter the time span for which a voucher with this definition will be valid. Counting is started at the first login. It is highly recommended to enter a time period.
    • Time quota: Here you can restrict the allowed online time. Enter the maximum online time after which a voucher of this definition expires. Counting is started at login and is stopped at logout. Additionally, counting is stopped after 5 minutes of inactivity.
    • Data volume: Here you can restrict the allowed data volume. Enter the maximum data volume to be transmitted with this voucher definition.


    So are you sure you were active for the whole time?
    If you want exactly one hour regardless of inactivities, choose a validity period of 1 hour.

    can we exclude any IP or group of IP from the subnet of hotspot interface..

    What do you mean by exclude? Allow them access without voucher? No, this isn't possible, the hostspot feature works on the whole subnet. You can only create a very long lasting voucher.

    let me take an example what i am trying to ask...

    if i have network lets say 50 users
    40 of them or normal users who need just 1 hour internet access
    rest 10 are managers and apart from this there are mail servers (which need internet all the time)

    so how can i configure hotspot for single LAN excluding managers and server IP...

    Simple answer: you can't. The hotspot feature is meant for guests etc., not for productive networks.
    If you want to restrict internet to some of your users, have a look at the Web Protection Profiles (possibly in conjunction with Active Directory SSO or the like).
