HTTP Proxy and Laptops

Hi All,

T- 15 days until the install of 2 Sophos UTMs for the client...

One thing I'm ultra stuck on:

How do you handle HTTP Proxy settings for laptops? I mean, if you set a GPO so that the computer uses the UTM as a proxy, thats great, WHILE they are in the office... but what about when they go out of the office, how are you guys handling this?

WPAD via DHCP does not work on all browsers, best practice to deploy via DNS.

DHCP has a higher priority than DNS: if DHCP provides the WPAD URL, no DNS lookup is performed. Notice that Firefox does not support DHCP, only DNS, and the same is true for Chrome on platforms other than Windows and for versions of Chrome older than version 13.

Basically, not all browsers support auto proxy config. when done through the DHCP method, main browser that works with this method is IE, which means firefox will not get the proxy config when done with DHCP. However DNS method appears to be less secure.
