Basic Question: HTTP Proxy Required for...?

Hi All,

So my client have 2 UTMs on order with full guard licensing.

My question is re the HTTP proxy; in order to use any of the Web Protection elements, like AV on traffic etc... is it required for the UTM to be the proxy, or can some elements be on (at the moment we have a Juniper SSG140, which does AV on all traffic, but it isnt the proxy)

    Yes, and you will want to use AV in single-scan mode when you activate the proxy.  You will probably want to start in Transparent mode and skip scanning of HTTPS traffic.  Eventually, you will want to use Standard mode since it allows you to do URL Filtering on non-HTTP web traffic.  If you have Active Directory, you'll want to consult HTTP/S Proxy Access with AD-SSO.
