Sophos needs to re-code their Webfilter

Ok, I think we ALL see the 10,000 lbs elephant in the room. Astaro/Sophos must too. I bet  "they" will see nothing and give us an excuse.

I have run Zyxel/Blue Coat  and Untangle proxies with zero issues with server timeouts. This form is full of them.  

The answer is "pass" the troubled site and then "pass" the next troubled site and then "pass" the next troubled site.   Oh, if you are having "that problem", "pass" the troubled site.

Sophos..... It appears you have a problem.   I think a full re-coding of the Webfilter is in order. 


Why, an absolutely grade A  security product has a problem like this is very  disconcerting. One of the key things it is suppose to do, it can't. Oh, it can most of the time. Don't worry, just "pass" that site from inspection. And "pass that site from inspection TOO. Call John up and have him "pass" this site so we can order this part. 


I think it is time Astaro/Sophos needs to fix the problem.

Or, do we all keep wishing it worked seamlessly, do they keep putting their head in the sand and say  "pass that site" from inspection?


Am I totally off base here, I see a major problem, others may just want to keep adding to the "pass" list.

    well yes and no..there's a reason i've deployed more than 2x sophos than UT.  Ut's packet processing being destructive causes waaaaay more problems for me than sophos's http proxy.  If you want to get down to it..most of the time when i log a support issues about some traffic the uvm is screwing up the answer is..bypass it...sounds like your complaint here yes?..  They both have their place..but i have much fewer "bypasses" for sophos proxy than i have to run for UT uvm bypassing..[:)]
