Now I would assume that I configured something wrong here, and my hope is to bounce a few ideas off someone.
Which is better to configure via Group Policy:
Automatic Configuration or Proxy Server or both?
Reason why I ask, is I recently found that the client's machine are not able to access the WSUS server (SBS 2011) If I turn on Proxy Server, it works. So that would tell me that my Automatic Configure wpad.dat file is not configured is that correct?
Since we have some laptops on site, I wanted to use the automatic configuration instead of proxy server, to help remove the need to disable this option when they are not at the office.
Realizing, that I could configure Laptops to do this and desktop to use proxy. But I would have the same issue when they try to access the WSUS server.
here is the setup:
UTM - Hosting wpad.dat file at 192.168.0.x:8080

SBS 2011 - Hosting WSUS, DHCP, and DNS servers
Now from what I see in other threads in most cases if you are using a wpad.dat from the UTM, the UTM is also provide DNS and DHCP services... but in my case the UTM is forwarding those request to the SBS 2011. Is that the issue maybe?
