Internet Access Rules for staff

Hello,

we need to make 4 groups:

Group 1. Internet access - no web filter - everytime
Group 2. Internet access - web filter - between 7:00am and 5:00pm
Group 3. Internet access - web filter - everytime
Group 4. no internet access - everytime

We have create Active directory groups with members. For example:

Person 1 is in Group 1
Person 2 is in Group 1
Person 3 is in Group 2
and so on...

Which steps are very important and we have to mind on?

    Use Web Filtering profiles and make a filter action for each access level; in your case it looks like it will be just be one set of rules at first. Create a filter assignment for each group/timeframe. e.g. 

    • "Unrestricted" gets assigned to Group1 and Group2 with the time event Always and the Action of Allow All.
    • "Daytime restriction" gets assigned to Group 2 with the time even of "daytime" (which is defined elsewhere) and a filter action of "restricted"
    • "Always restricted" assigned to Group3 with a time event of Always and a filter action of "restricted"
    • "Complete Block" assigned to Group4 with a time event of Always and an action of Block all


    When you build the profile, select each assignment, and make sure to put the most specific (daytime restriction) above the lesser ones. It processes the rules in order, and applies the first one it hits.
