History Channel

Is anyone else having issues viewing the videos from the History Channel?  When we click on a video we can watch the advertisements but not the actual videos.  We get a "This video is currently not available" or something close to that statement.

We are running the filter in STD/SSO configuration.

If I make a transparent mode profile AND place my computer in the "Skip transparent mode source hosts/nets" section I can view the videos.

I have the UTM running at home as well and I was running the UTM in transparent mode just to get some benefit from the A/V on the UTM and I have to do the same thing there or I cannot watch the videos.  I just turned the filter off at home to bypass the problem.  I cannot do this at school.

This started after we came back from our Thanksgiving break and I submitted a ticket to support on the 4th of December.  To date, I have had one tech say that he can reproduce the problem and he had to escalate it and I have had another say that he could not reproduce the problem.

Have any of you seen this issue?

The specs in my sig. are the current specs of the box running the UTM>

    i don't get past the ads...watch the logs to see where the issue is.

    William - Yours is not working either?

    I have sat and watched the webfilter with my IP address as the filter and I do not see any "Blocked" messages or "Connection timed out".  The main video just does not start.

    it's not a matter of watching for blocked you have to watch the url's from that machine..that reminds me..i fixed netflix here and forgot to post it..netflix has a new cdn and if netflix isn't working you have to figure out which ip/dns host is your cdn node..i'll generate that once i see if i can figure this one out.

    it seems the ad blocking is also an issue...sometimes you have to turn off ALL ad blocking for some sites to work..that's why i can't watch videos on foxnews.com...hsitory.com is most likely the same way..so either you disable the ad blocking or deal without history.com...for me i'll leave the ad blocking on.

    William:  Ok, I watch what sites list when I click on the "This Day in History".  Since none are blocked, am I supposed to add these to my "History Channel" exemptions in case the A/V or whatever doesn't like them?

    If it takes turning the ADs back on to watch the videos, they will probably make me turn them back on.

    Or just eat the remaining two years of our filter subscription and go back to M86.

    I'm confused.   Is "Enable Ad Blocking" a thing?  I don't see that, and besides, the ads on the site are the only things that do play.

    the ad blocking is under the suspcious webpages category.  Considering ad sites are the one most targeted for exploitation...i like to leave them on no matter what..[:)]  

    otherwise you'll need to isolate that pc in the logs and figure out which ones needs to be added to the skiplist.

    well i found an ip to put into the exceptions and turned off the web ads filtering to no avail.  I think i would get support involved because having to put your machine in the http proxy bypass isn't acceptable.

    I have a open incident with them, but they can't seem to agree that it has a problem.  And no, I do not think having to place "a lot" of computers into the HTTP bypass to get something as mainstream as the History Channel videos to play is acceptable either.

    I was just looking for confirmation here that is wasn't my setup.

    Speak of the devil.

    Someone from support has actually logged onto my system as we type these messages and is looking around.

    Will let you know if they make it work without disabling the filter completely.

    I am trying it here at home and am running the box in transparent, no categories selected.  It still just plays the ads.  Turn web filtering off and it works fine.
