blocking facebook apps in smartphones (apple and android)

Hi Experts,

My astaro 425 ver 8 able to blocked http/s://www.facebook.com via web browsing, however I noticed that there are some traffic shows facebook still accessible, till I found out that some employees brought their own smart phones just to browse facebook website.

How do I achieved using my astaro 425 to stop some employees browsing facebook using their smartphones?

    You can block facebook with 'Application Control'.

    I think your UTM will recognize this traffic even when the proxy isn´t used by the smartphones. But traffic must go through the UTM. [;)]

    Not sure if this works reliable without SSL/HTTPS proxy when fb traffic is https. In my memory it didn't. But it's worth a try, as I tested this last with 8.2 Beta ;o)

    I will check this on Monday with v8.308 and v9.004-34.

    9.004-34:
    Set up a Application Control rule 'no Facebook' with anything related to facebook (see attachment 1).

    • Proxy active, HTTPS-Scan active, Application Control active --> Facebook blocked [[[:D]]] (attachment 2)
    • Proxy active, HTTPS-Scan inactive, Application Control active --> Facebook blocked [[[:D]]] (timeout)
    • Proxy inactive, HTTPS-Scan inactive, Application Control active --> Facebook blocked [[[:D]]] (attachment 2)


    Each time facebook is blocked there i a red entry in Application Control log:
    20:22:47 Application control rule #1 Facebook 192.168.200.126:55127 → 173.252.101.26:443  [ACK PSH] len=262 ttl=127 tos=0x00 srcmac=0:c:29:f5[:D]e:ea
