Web Filtering on Astaro Security Gateway v8

Hi all,

I'm using a Astaro Security GW v8 as a Software appliance and it is actually working great.

I have a little challenge though. For my child I would like to implement some very strict webfiltering. She has a dedicated machine with a fixed ip. Is it possible to activate Content-control for this strict ip since I'm not using user-id's and proxies on my LAN?

    Hi,

    Yes, just create a Network Definition for the PC's IP.

    Then you can assign the definition to a Web Security profile.

    I tried that but I still don't get.

    I made a Network Definition typ host and entered the IP of my daughters pc. But I don't see the option to use that definition anywhere in the web security profile. 

    Any idea?

    Due to the complexity, HTTP Proxy profiles are not really straightforward. Goto:

    Web Protection >> Web Filtering Profiles >> Filter Actions:
    - Create the new strict Filter Action

    Web Protection >> Web Filtering Profiles >> Filter Assignments:
    - Create a new Filter Assignment using the created Filter Action. If you're *not* using any authentication for the HTTP-Proxy (only IP-based), leave the 'allowed users' empty.

    Web Protection >> Web Filtering Profiles >> Proxy Profiles
    - Create a new Proxy Profile, select the to-be-strict network definition (IP) as 'source network' and check the previously created Filter Assignment. Select the same assignment as 'Fallback action'.

    For even more Security, also create some 'Application Control' rules for that IP at:
    Web Protection >> Application Control >> Application Control Rules
