are you running a firewall on your pc?  Also what nics are in the firewall?  The only other thing you can do for blizzard and any other p2p based systems is see if you can force them to a certain port range and forward those ports to your pc.

Have SC2 and D3 updater and launcher clients working fine through my v9.  They are a real PITA to get working properly though.  Can confirm that I did not need any port forwards to achieve connectivity.  Based on what you've tried, I can't see why it isn't working for you as you have disabled nearly everything and enabled all traffic outbound.  One final thing you can try is to enable and use the SOCKS proxy instead of using the Squid proxy.  Just enable SOCKS under Web Protection -> Advanced -> SOCKS proxy tab.  Do not enable authentication as this will make it a SOCKS5 proxy and SOCKS5 is unsupported by IE.  Make sure you set Internal LAN or your gaming rig as an allowed network.  Then open Internet Explorer (SPECIFICALLY IE as this is what the Blizzard App will look to for a proxy configuration) Options -> Connections -> Advanced under Proxy.  Tell the machine to use a proxy and set the Internal address of your UTM under the Socks field with a port of 1080.  Click OK in IE.  Then try launching WoW again.

If that doesn't work, you could always create me a read only account and I'll sanity check your configuration for you.  Understand if you're not willing to do so.

Thank you for the offer. I made some of the changes you suggested and some BobA and Barry suggested.

The changes reduced the junk being reported and I also examined the error log and found another website that isn't mentioned anywhere.

Doesn't matter if I have the http proxy in transparent or standard mode if I point the web browser at the proxy. The issue is I have an exception list and a bypass list, the bypass list appears to be ignored because the http proxy report shows all the exceptions for those sites.

If anyone is interested I will post the entire wow exception list that I have created. I expect some of them can be consolidated.

I am using stsandard proxy mode (no HTTPS scanning) and I also have WOW exceptions and it works fine. Exceptions are:

Skipping: Antivirus / Extension blocking / MIME type blocking / URL Filter / Content Removal / SSL scanning
Matching these URLs:
^https?://ak.worldofwarcraft.com.edgesuite.net/
^https?://attdist.blizzard.com/
^https?://blizzard.vo.llnwd.net/


Also I am allowing port 1119 as I have standard proxy

I tried reducing the list and settings to those that work for you and a couple of others and the setup would not run.
I restored mine to that shown in the attached screenshot.

the blizzard installer isn't http unless you force it..it is p2p(bittorrent) based.  if you turn off the http proxy and it works then something's amiss as blizzard has been using p2p for their installs and downloads for a long time.

I have bittorrent enabled and for sometime it was used, but under v9 I don't recall bittorrent traffic.
Anyway the attached log file from the wow setup shows a url and if have the proxy enabled and that url is not in the bypass list is doesn't work.

World of Warcraft uses TCP port numbers 1119, 3724, 6112, 6113, 6114, 1119, 1120, 80 and 4000 to play.

It seems fine for me for standard proxy (Socks is not turned on btw)

can you port the output of World of Warcraft\Logs\Launcher.log?

there is also another port that keeps cropping up 3874 when the game is played. Not mentioned anywhere.

At the moment the PC is shutdown, but that URL is not known on this server.

I have 3 w7 64 PCs and each access the game in a different way, one works with proxy and ie pointing at the proxy, another works with auto detect proxy and the other needs to be investigated because it doesn't connect correctly.

I am almost ready to call it quits with the game, it really is a pain and always has been.  I will investigate some more tomorrow if the weather is bad. I have a painting job outside that requires the surface to be dry.

there is an IPS rule that crops up regularly as blocking the internal PCs from attacking the game server. I have disabled the rule. I will see if that has any affect on the use of bittorrent.
