Web filtering profiles and Time Period Definitions

Hello, i'm french so sorry for my english [H]

i have probleme with time period definitions and web filtering profiles, when the period is exceeded the computer no longer have access to internet so it's good, but this computer can ping IP ( example : 8.8.8.8 or other ).

is this normal ?

I would like to block all traffic when the period is exceeded.

    The settings in the web filtering profiles are only applicable for traffic passing through the HTTP proxy. For everything else you have to use packet filter rules. You can use time periods there, too.

    So, if for example :

    user1 = 9h - 20h web filtering profiles

    I must create in Firewall

    user1 = 20h01 to 23h59 deny all
    user1 = 00h00 to 8h59 deny all

    If the 'Fallback action' is "Default content filter block action" in your profile, then you only need a Filter Assignment with your Action that allows specific traffic.

    Pings are regulated on the 'ICMP' tab in 'Firewall'.

    By default, a firewall blocks all traffic.  When you enable proxies in Astaro like the Web proxy, the Astaro WebAdmin automatically creates the firewall rules it needs to allow traffic it handles.

    Also, during the intial setup, the installation wizard asks questions and, based on your selections, it creates some firewall rules allowing various kinds of traffic.  You probably have a rule that looks like 'Internal (Network) -> Web Surfing -> Any : Allow'.  You can use Ulmi's suggestion and just add the same time period restriction to this rule making it valid only 9-to-20.

    OK, thank you very much for all the answers, i love Astaro and astaro-men [:)]

    I didn't understand all what you said but i have resolved my mistake !

    now i use "mode transparent" with authentification "browser" and i have create account and it's work very good.

    i don't know why, but with no authentifcation browser and no account, web filtering profil work bad with me...

    I hope one day have documentation of Astaro in french [:D]
