whitelisting specific youtube videos

Hi all,

Our students are on a white list.  Transparent HTTP proxy, version 8.301.  Their filter action is set to block by default.  In the past, I was able to whitelist specific youtube.com URL's, so the students could reach those videos but not all the rest.  Our student wireless network is supposed to strictly be for school work, so I can't just whitelist the whole domain.

For some reason, those video-specific URL's aren't working anymore.  Here is the log:

Youtube isn't specifically blacklisted anywhere else and we do some Application Control, but not for this particular vlan.  The entry in the whitelist for this test is youtube.com/watch?v=hivVTVw7UM8.

    It looks like The Astaro passed this, but the youtube server doesn't like the student's client.  Still, it's strange that the Astaro didn't mention the exception in the log line.  Is nothing able to reach the video from the Student Wireless?

    No Youtube page will load at all on a student web browser.  I'd get the Astaro page 'blocked by surf protection.'  I've found a temporary workaround because the teacher who requested this white-listing had the videos embedded in his class website.  I've added c.youtube.com to the student wireless whitelist, so the embedded videos can now play.  Going to the main youtube page still fails though.  Specifically listing the URL's used to work.

    The other thing I've noticed is that loading the page from a browser on the faculty wireless (which is wide open) does load some different URL's.  Perhaps that is the issue.  I'm seeing some strange cache pages from our ISP (Comcast, unfortunately) with URL's of...

    o-o.preferred.comcast-lga1.v22.lscache2.c.youtube.com.....

    Unsettling trend.  Thanks for the assistance!
