Getting "Host not found" on valid websites

But other sites work via proxy?

Most sites are working fine. Just getting "Host not found" on those two sites. We are now having an issue with another site (nalc.org). However, this one says  "Connection timed out" instead. This one resolves in nslookup as well and I'm able to pull up the website fine when the filter is disabled.

May be an issue with the proxy and the websites' in question load balancer... seems we've seen a few wierd reports of this lately on the 'board, though I haven't had a customer with the issue.  If you have a commercial license, it may be a good idea to start a case with Astaro Support (via your reseller, or directly, if you have Premium Support).

Running V8.300 with web filtering set to transparent mode. I'm unable to go to two websites that I know of (cms.gov and medicare.gov) When I try to go to those sites I get the "Host not found" page. However, when the filter is turned off, the website works fine so I know its a valid working site.

I have the ISP's DNS servers entered into the DNS Forwarders section and I'm able to resolve them using nslookup. Anyone run into this issue before or have any ideas of what to try?

hit the proxy logs to see if there is anything there.  Also clear the proxy web cache if it is on.  Also clear your browser caches.  It works fine here.

I contacted support and here's how the issue can be resolved in case someone else runs into this issue in the future.

Support rep said the following:
"These sites may use forwarders, which can cause timeouts with the Web Proxy. What mode are you operating the proxy in? If using transparent mode, you can add the sites to the transparent proxy destination skiplist. Use a DNS host type object if the FQDN resolves to a single IP/DNS entry or a DNS Group type if resolution is to multiple IPs."

Here's the Step-By-Step of what I did:
Go to Web Security and select Web Filtering. Go to the Advanced tab from there and look for the Skip transparent mode destination hosts/nets section. Click the Plus sign to add. Since the FQDN of the sites I was having issues with only resolved to a single IP, I selected DNS Host in the Type: dropdown box. But if it resolves to multiple IPs, select DNS Group as the support rep suggested. The websites were now working once I did this and clicked apply

if you are a paid user start a ticket with support...But if you are using sophos endpoint with the utm turn off web control at the utm.
