Proxys and Passwords

I have set internet explorer  IE to use the astaro proxy (non-transparant).
I am then hoping that other applications can be set to the "use system proxy settings".
There doesnt seem to be a place though for the user name and password, so I found this page on the subject How to Change the Proxy Username & Password in IE 6 | eHow.com
It all seems to make sense until I try to do it and get -

What should I type for this?

    Are you running the http proxy in standard mode with authentication?
    It sounds like it may be better for you to simply run the proxy in transparent or standard mode without authentication, since in essence what you are trying to configure by adding the username and password to the proxy settings results in the same thing.
    If you want other computers to authenticate to use the proxy you can create a separate profile for them that would require authentication.

    Another option is to create exceptions for sites like microsoft or your av updates that skip the authentication check.
