Proxys and Passwords

I have set internet explorer  IE to use the astaro proxy (non-transparant).
I am then hoping that other applications can be set to the "use system proxy settings".
There doesnt seem to be a place though for the user name and password, so I found this page on the subject How to Change the Proxy Username & Password in IE 6 | eHow.com
It all seems to make sense until I try to do it and get -

What should I type for this?

    I'm wanting to configure the computer so that programs like for example an antivirus program can get their updates by going through the proxy.
    The antivirus program has the option of "use system proxy settings" only the settings in Internet Explorer don't have authentication. This web page I think is explaining how to set authentication settings to make this possible, but when I try to do so it asks for more than just a simple user name, so I'm unsure what to put here.
    I have just a plain home network, no AD or anything fancy.
