Facebook blocked

Hi Community,

i run an ASG v8 in my private network, but for a longer time i got an problem using Facebook. The "normal" page show's up normaly, but all ajax requests make problems.

I noticed in my daily executive reports, that two facebook relatated domains were blocked (don't know why), but i tried to add these two URL's als exception. That worked for one of the two, but the second one still get blocked.

Any ideas?

    Right, that's what I thought.  In order to see those blocks, you must look in the Firewall log.  However, I bet you will see that these were univited RST packets, and that this isn't your problem.

    Like Wingman said, we need to see the block line(s) in the Web Filtering log.

    Hi, I searched in the whole file for blocked requests, but I only found 4-5, and all of them have nothing to do with Facebook.

    When this is no problem with the web security filter, what could cause these problems?

    Sometimes, a request is "pass" by the proxy, but the webpage doesn't receive the information.  The best thing to do is to bring up the Live Log and try to access Facebook to see what line (s) you get.  Post those here - we shouldn't need more than 2 or 3.

    Hi Harsesis,  I know its frustrating to find the logs and fix the problem correctly as Bob is trying to help you do so thanks for your patience. However I understand that it is sometimes complex for a new user to get stuff to work correctly.
     
    In my experience when the ajax stuff is acting funky in facebook, an exception in the content filtering helps. I see you already have exceptions set up. Add another one to fbcdn.net. I usually setup content filter exceptions in the content filter section to keep everything sorted nicely, plus it doesn't require the fancy syntax and matches the keywords for exceptions.

    See the screenshot below and see if it helps with your facebook problem.

    Hi,

    I added the exceptions as shown in your screenshot. Next I need to try it out for some time, because these errors happens randomly. Also I will try to take a look in the live-log.

    Hi,

    i turned off the web proxy for a longer time. Now i turned it on again (in 8.300) and the problem with facebook is still present. Now i have found out that it seems to be a problem with the proxy cache. I have disabled it, but it seems that the proxy is still caching. The page doesn't get loaded well, but wenn I press the "Clear Cache" button it works well for a few moments.

    Any suggestions?

    Again, without seeing the relevant lines from the Web Filtering log, it's hard to get started on this.

    Hi and sorry for my late reply,

    I have attached two screenshots to the post, one shows the URL that is blocked from my daily executive report, the other is the rule i added, to solve it (without success).

    My version is 8.202


    I'm not sure if you've gotten this fix yet or not.  But the fbcdn.com in your exception is incorrect.  Facebook uses facebook.com and fbcdn.net to correctly display their website.

    Replace your fbcdn.com with the fbcdn.net

    I've had all the domains as exception, without any result... I will try that again to make sure this still don't work.

    I can't give you any line if there is none. I think that is not a problem content that get blocked I think it's a problem with the cache!

    Have you used Firebug at all to see exactly what part of the website is being blocked?

    Also if you have a fast Internet connection you maybe want to completely disable Caching under Web Security - Advanced.
