Route exe, iso, and other file downloads through dedicated WAN connection

AFAICT (I may be wrong, though) this is not possible because the content-type has to be found out first, an then routed via another interface, actively breaking the HTTP connection if the connection has been established via the undesired interface.

Thanks for the response but you are not correct.

All that is required is for the proxy to intercept and parse the URL of the outbound http request and see that the extension is exe, iso, mp3, mp4, msi, etc.

Web Filtering Exceptions are already parsing the URL: ^https?://[A-Za-z0-9.-]*windowsupdate.com/

That may be true and a missing feature to somehow 'tag' those connections to be able to re-route.

I will submit this as a feature request.

I also wanted to elaborate on my previous statement,

It wouldn't be necessary to break the existing TCP session to the site hosting the file to be downloaded because the http file request could be sent in a parallel TCP session over the alternative WAN interface.

This may impact the "state" of the existing http connection in that the file download will not be associated with the interactive session by the web site. This should not however impact the persistence of the web site connection.
