web application failed for outlook Web access

Since the upgrade to version 8.2xx we are unable to use the outlook webmail client.
When connection to https:// url of webmail , the user gets the webmail authentication login screen, but after successfull authentication the user get the error message "DNS lookup failure for:....

When checking the life log files i see the following error message that might be causing the issue.

ModSecurity: Audit log: Failed to create file: /var/log/audit/20110829/20110829-0910/20110829-091046-Tls7dgoOLvcAAFtCzFQAAAAi (Too many open files)
