Um, why was transparent web proxy SSO auth taken away in 8.2?

Transparent with SSO would be nice.
Browsers will only send NTLM (username/password) if a proxy is set. If you are just browsing through regular ports 80/443, with no proxy set, the browser never appends the NTLM data, so SSO can't work in transparent mode.
But other products doing sso without putting proxy in browsers, like barracuda and watchguard..!! How they do...??? because its very difficult when your mostly users are laptop users and they are also using 3gcards and internet at home...!!
