can ping IP but not host name.

Hi there

I'm new to this forum by the way! 

I have just installed Astaro onto my network as the gateway.
But when I try to setup the proxy wit will not work. When I put the host name into the proxy settings, it just fails right after you enter a address (example Google). I can't even ping the host name either, but I can ping the IP address fine. If I put the IP address into the browser, it works, but does not authenticate users correctly. just allows every thing. does not block.

the user authentication is though Active Directory too.

any fixes to this? [:D]

    How do you have your proxy operational mode set up on the Astaro? Standard, active directory, transparent,.........?
    Also, as suggested, you need to take another look at your DNS settings. Network Services > DNS > 
    Check your Global tab as well as your forwarders tab.
    Global -> defines the networks, computers, users that are allowed to use the Astaro as a recursive DNS resolver.
    Forwarders -> Where is your DNS coming from?

    Your workstations should still point to your internal DNS servers and those in turn should be defined in the astaro  Network Security > Intrusion Prevention > advanced >
    Also, make sure you aren't blocking DNS lookups.
