can ping IP but not host name.

I'm new to this forum by the way!

I have just installed Astaro onto my network as the gateway.
But when I try to setup the proxy wit will not work. When I put the host name into the proxy settings, it just fails right after you enter a address (example Google). I can't even ping the host name either, but I can ping the IP address fine. If I put the IP address into the browser, it works, but does not authenticate users correctly. just allows every thing. does not block.

the user authentication is though Active Directory too.

any fixes to this? [:D]

It looks like you are asking about multiple issues and not providing much detail about your setup, so the answers are going to have to be more general in nature.

1) Double check your AD/proxy setup by following this article from the support wiki: https://support.astaro.com/support/index.php/User_Contributed:HTTP/S_Proxy_Access_with_AD-SSO

2) If you can ping by IP Address, but not by name, then there is probably something wrong with your DNS setup. Double check how you have DNS setup.
