Odd Log Entry "Warning Exceeds Maximum Length"

All-

I noticed this entry in the logging.log:

2011:06:20-16:46:19 OASIS logging.pm[4897]: warning: log message exceeds maximum length [l:6014|m:1023|x:4991]: I main::top-level:475() => id="310a" severity="info" sys="System" sub="confd" name="object changed" class="http" type="cff_action" ref="REF_DefaultHTTPCFFAction" objname="Default content filter action" user="scottj" srcip="192.168.1.2" sid="CTMRhgytnbEWkendzUNx" facility="webadmin" client="index.plx" pid="22358" attr_url_list="['^https?://.*ads.*.com','^https?://.*adserver.*.com','^https?://.*adtmt.com','^https?://.*advertising.*.com','^https?://.*adwords.google.com','^https?://.*ajax.googleapis.com','^https?://.*ak.fb.cdn.net','^https?://.*ak.fcbn.net','^https?://.*analytics.*.com','^https?://.*atlassolutions.com','^https?://.*axs2000.net','^https?://.*bkrtx.com','^https?://.*bluekai.com','^https?://.*bs.servicng-sys.com','^https?://.*casalemedia.com','^https?://.*cdn.assets.craveonline.com','^https?://.*cdn.triggertag.gorillanation.com','^https?://.*cdn.widgetserver.com','^https?://.*clients1.google.com','^h !

Any ideas why it would indicate "exceeds maximum length"? Is there a limit to the total number of entries in the URL Filter "Additional Sites To Block"?

Thanks,
Jim[:S]

  • Hey, Jim,

    I haven't seen that before, but I do see a couple things that might help.  There's a sub-category "Web Ads" that isn't in any of the default URL Filtering Categories, but you could add it to one or create a new category.

    Second, these are REGEX expressions, so I don't think you're getting exactly what you want. I'm no guru on them, but I think, for example, that instead of '^https?://.*adwords.google.com', you would want '^https?://[A-Za-z0-9.-]*adwords\.google\.com'.

    I think '.*' matches anything of any length, so, for example, in '^https?://.*ads.*.com', the '.' before 'com' isn't necessary because it matches any character, not just '.'.  This expression also matches 'http://www.sadsack.com'.
