Displaying user names in Web Security Statistics

Hi,

I am trying to configure the Astaro to display usernames instead of IP addresses in Web Security Statistics.

So far I have set Operation Mode to Active Directory SSO and configured the browser proxy settings to The Astaro's FQDN. This allows connection to the Internet but still shows IP addresses rather than username.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Bob,

    No joy. I removed it from AD making sure it was gone from both AD servers. I then rebooted the Astaro and added it to the domain through the Astaro.

    Could the hostname be anything to do with it. Our internal domain is mactag.com, that is also the hostname of the Astaro (mactag.com) as the help instructs you to give it your public domain name. The internal DNS server has a record that resolves to the Astaro as mactag.mactag.com which is what I use in the browser proxy settings.

    The Astaro device that works has a hostname of macscott.com and has a DNS record of macscott.mactag.com- that works.

    I don't think that's the problem, but the basic rule for the hostname is that it should be an FQDN that resolves to the Astaro.  If that doesn't happen, there's a lot of extra work.  Whenever I install an ASG for someone with an internal mail server, I name it mail.theirdomain.com.

    Depending on how much setup you've done already, you might find it worthwhile to do a factory reset (erases all logs and reports, too), install from scratch and specify the hostname as something like mactag.mactag.com, and then rejoin the domain.

    But, I'm a little confused - are you saying that you're using the same domain name both inside and outside your LAN?  In a Windows Server environment we've always named the internal domain something.local instead of something.com as that's what's used outside.  Even if the internal domain were mactag.local, the hostname for the Astaro should be an FQDN that resolves in public DNS to the IP of 'External (Address)'.

    Don't forget to get a configuration backup off the thing first!

    Also, are you scanning HTTPS (SSL) traffic?  If not, then the easiest test would be just renaming it to mactag.mactag.com.  If that doesn't solve the problem, then you'll want to change it back.  If it does, then, depending on what else is configured in the Astaro, there are at least a half-dozen other places you'll need to change.

    I am out of the office for the rest of the week but I will try your suggestions on my return. I think it will be to big a job to change to .local

    Gave the Astaro device a different hostname proxy.mactag.com and re-added it to the domain. Created a new public A record of proxy.mactag.com and it's working!

    Now having some problems with WSUS and VMware updates authenticating with the device but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
