I have home edition (currently 7.509) with AP10 and moving to AP30 (thanks Bruce).
I had tried using the web filtering but it ended up being to much trouble for home use (ok, perhaps that would make it even more important, but haven't had time to get all the 'allows' put in place for everything to work... sonos, tivo, asterisk, etc. Will get back to that sometime in the future I hope.
Anyway, I would like to filter one or two PCs (for the kids). I was planning on -
- Creating a kids subnet on the wireless
- Not enabling http/https on that subnet
- Turning on http proxy for that subnet
- messing with approve/block sites to get desired results.
I believe that will work. Is there a better way to have specific rules for individuals? I can read the manual with some pointers on where to look. The one problem I see with above is that the kids PC can't control the sonos system because sonos uses broadcast packets. The other is if they plug into then network then filtering is bypassed (but can work around that with DHCP static lease and packet filtering).
thanks!
