IM proxy stopped working.

Hi,

I have IM control enabled in Web Security, and MSN and IRC enabled in it. I used to use these apps without any problem. But today I fired up IRC client and it couldn't connect. When I watch package filter I see that IRC (8001) packages being dropped. If I create filter rules it connects. But isn't the purpose of proxy to manage it without package filters?

I don't know why it doesn't working any more, and don't know when it broke as I did not use any IRC for weeks.

Do any of you has similar problem?

    Whenever something mysterious happens, it always pays to look in the Intrusion Prevention log.

    No, nothing in IPS live log when trying to connect. Where should I look? Its just bypassing proxy no matter what. And working acording to package filter [:(]

    Edit: I also tried completely disabling IPS; no success either.

    I'm sorry, I didn't read your original post closely enough.  IM/P2P is not a proxy; it's more like a filter.  If the traffic is not allowed by the packet filter rules, it never makes it to the IM/P2P traffic classifier to be blocked or allowed.

    Not sure if it works like you said. If I need PF rules so whats the point of IM/P2P control [:)]

    I investigated more today. And if I enable im AND p2p control sections in web security, MSN protocal recognised and allowed by astaro without any PF rule. But, if I enable im and disable p2p control AFC stops working (I see two shutdown lines in AFC live logs). Anyone can comfirm this?
