astaro and games

I just set up my first ASG last night and everything is working great. But I cannot play online games. i play through steam and other web games. What do i need to do to allow them? I have a packet filter rule set that pretty much allows everything to go through but log it. I want to filter everything but allow games to go through so i can play online. Any and all help appreciated.

    Hey, b3nd3r, welcome to the User BB!

    Try a google on a popular game you play and include "site:astaro.org" in the search string.  If you have trouble, then post again with questions about specific games.  Once you learn the trick for one or two, you'll find it easy.

    Well sorry to dig up an old post buy I got my asg back (old one died) and I'm trying to set this up again. I play games through STEAM and other online games. How can I allow asg to let them through. I have watched live logs. Have the proxy running in full transparent mode(not helping)  Played with url filtering and nothing is working. when i bring up steam it says could not connect to steam network. 

    any ideas asg gurus?

    You'll need to create packet filter rules to allow it to work.  As mentioned in the first link, individual games may need additional ports not listed in the second link.  You should consult the manufactuers support pages for each game.
     
    Gotta say that I really love the advise of steam to not use a firewall and directly connect your PC to the internet.  Somewhere else on their site they probably also recommend to leave the doors and windows where you live open at all times, remove all windows from your car and leave the keys in the ignition, and create a public website listing all of your personal information including all passwords, credit card numbers, and bank accounts.

    yeah Well i knew i would have to probably set rules for the games but if they think I'm getting rid of my asg there crazy. I don't mind going through and making the exceptions because once i do it i'm done. 

    What about netflix? I have seen stuff on here but haven't had time to read it all yet.
