Astaro getting really annoying

[:@]I have my own firewall thank you! You can tell this is to do with surf protection. it is intrusive and I have my own internet security suite on my laptop. How the heck can I get the nuisance to stop blocking sites and connections that I know are ok on my laptop without touching the college network? I do not have Astaro installed. What if I need to update important software? it blocks that too!

I know that asking the Administrator will not work.

I am at the end of my tether to be honest...[:@]

  • if you aren't in control of the astaro there's nothing you can do.  it sounds like you have not tried talking to the admin..give it a try.. just don't whine.

  • Are you the admin of the Astaro?  If not, well you will need to ask for permission to the sites that are being blocked.
  • This does not sound like a thread that has anything to do with what we talk about here.  Take up your issues with your college network admin; they are the ones that control the configuration in your case.

  • Indeed, we are a community of folks who administer Astaro installations, but like you, we have absolutely no control over the device controlling your college network.

If they have their Astaro correctly configured, then by design, there is no way around it - that's the whole reason for it being there!

Assuming you're still at Macclesfield college (as you were in December when you last posted), then you need to take up your grievance with their network administrator.
  • Alternative answer. Do your updates from home where you control the environment.
