Web Filter Problem: Accessing www.grundschulmaterial.de

Hello everyone!

In our school the teachers need to access the website Grundschulmaterial.de and download materials for subject preparation. We are paying for that service.

Picture 1 shows the wished result when accessing the webpage WITHOUT any web filter/proxy. Just using Port 80 as a test.
Try it: 
- access Unterrichtsmaterial / Arbeitsblätter für die Grundschule - Grundschulmaterial.de (it's german)
- you have got no logon but it should be the same behaviour:
  click on the middle buton "Hier geht's zum Medienarchiv"
- then, i.e. click on the "Deutsch" tab, "Klasse" folder

All users within our school have to use the web proxy (extra port) but when doing so the result comes up in Picture 2 (see attachement).

?!?!?

I put the URL in the exception list already - no success. What is the root cause and how to see the page properly by using the web filter?
Any ideas?

    Hi Uwe,
    try to add this page to the transparent mode skip list.

    We had a similiar problem with an other webpage which was not displayed correctly by using the web proxy.

    If R2K's workaround fixes it (or not) I'd start a case with Astaro to report the issue so they correct it if it's a bug in the Proxy.

    Dear helpers!

    I didn't manage to reply earlier. 
    I can do what I want - it even doesn't work with the exceptions list. but now the teachers need it. What can I do? Without the proxy/astaro (Port 80) it is fully accessible. But when using the proxy plus exceptions list it doesn't show single page items.

    Is there a file type that has to be unblocked? What's the matter?! [:S]

    Uwe, what Proxy mode - Transparent? Standard? SSO?

    If Transparent, did you add the site to the 'Transparent mode skiplist' on the 'Advanced' tab?

    If in a mode that requires the clients' browsers to point at the Astaro HTTP Proxy on port 8080, then the exception must be set in the browser configuration.  You also will need a packet filter rule:

    Internal (Network) -> Web Browsing -> {DNS Host definition for Grundschulmaterial.de} : Allow

    The operation mode is set to "Active Directory SSO" and works quite well in the other cases.

    But please let me try your last hint!

    Will provide feedback!

    PS: Just for my understanding: Isn't the exception list working when using an extra proxy port for the clients (in our case: Port 8080) that means it only works with the transparent proxy operation mode?!
    That must not be true...

    The 'Transparent mode skiplist' only applies when in transparent mode.  In AD-SSO, the clients make the choice of whether to use the proxy.

    You can use the new 'Proxy Auto Configuration' capability on the 'Advanced' tab or a GPO so that future changes can be done centrally.

    You left out a key word: "new 'Proxy Auto Configuration' capability." [;)]

    Up2Date to 7.504 and you'll see it.

    I'm not adept at creating either PACs or GPOs, but if I were in an Active Directory Environment with Internet Explorer on all PCs, I think I'd learn more about GPOs before PACs.  Just my 2¢-worth.

    Good morning everybody & a happy new spring!

    GPOs I prefer, too. Excluding the according website would be an option that we ccould work with. It's the only way to solve such a case.

    THANK YOU for the information about the Exclusions Tab and its cooperation with transparent modes only! That's new to me. That also explains why exclusions didn't work with the AD auth. mode. Very helpful!

    Finally we even got to the root cause/core of the original problem: The website's creator figured out a programmer's issue that enables the site to display english menu options. So it was/is a language file programming solution that's the solution. Currently we got a backdoor access link that enables the page to run with our proxy even.

    Fazit:
    Any website problem?: Exclude it from the proxy. How to do that depends on the auth. method for the Astaro proxy (see above).

    Or just contact the website's creator to ask for possible support. Sometimes... there is magic ^_^
