Transparent Mode Skiplist

I am trying to debug a problem I'm having with Jungle Disk backup, large files are failing, by testing to see if Jungle Disk works better if I don't use HTTP Proxy.  I am running Astaro 7.480 (Beta) and my PC uses Windows 7 and IE 8.  In Astaro I use HTTP Proxy with Basic User Authentication. Normally I have my proxy settings setup in IE. To debug the Jungle Disk, I wanted to stop using proxy and see if my backup works better.  So I added my PC to the Transparent Mode Skiplist (my PC's IP is setup as a host in the Definitions section).  In IE I  unchecked Use proxy.  I rebooted my PC and opened IE, but IE can't get to the internet.  In firefox I still have the use proxy setting enabled and it works fine.  I thought adding my PC to the transparent mode skiplist would bypass the proxy and authentication.  Isn't this how the  transparent mode skiplist works?

    The skiplist only works when the proxy is in transparent mode.

    Create a packet filter rule: 
    '[host to back up] -> [group of outbound ports to open for Jungle Disk] -> [DNS Host definition of JD backup service] : Allow'.

    I'll give that a try.   If I was using transparent mode then added a host to the skiplist, what does the skiplist do?  Is it letting astaro bypassing all the web traffic?  On the help page I saw that transparent mode strips NTLM headers (I don't even know what that is) and also FTP doesn't work.  So would the skiplist let those things work?

    Yes, that's how I understand it.

    If the proxy is in 'Transparent' mode, it intercepts all port 80 traffic and runs it through the Proxy.  If you aren't in that mode, the proxy does not intercept the traffic.  If you want to be able to surf to/from a host/network in the skiplist, you either must check the 'Allow HTTP traffic...' box or create a packet filter as suggested above.
