Troubleshooting Poor Proxy Performance

I'm just looking for basic performance tips that I can do before trying to open up a support ticket for slow proxy performance.

Today we have been experiencing very poor throughput with the proxy turned on. When we go straight out, the Internet is much snappier. We recently added approximately 200 PCs to our proxy, and I expect even higher usage as people start coming back from summer holidays.

Model: AWG 4000
Average/Max Concurrent Connections: 3500/6100
Number of Active Users: 900-1300
Network throughput: 1.48 Mbps/13.13 Mbps

3 Proxy Profiles configured, two with one filter assignment each, one with 10 filter assignments. The third proxy profile (10 FAs) uses eDirectory SSO.

Thanks for your help.

  • I've seen this here several times, so I think the best solution is to open a ticket.  I'd like to get definitive proof that the real throughput is there, but the common measuring tools are fooled, or, if there really is a slowdown, what configuration changes will correct the problem.

    Cheers - Bob
