Rogue AV - Personal Antivirus

I run ASG v7 and a about a month ago my son managed to infect one of our computers with the Personal Antivirus malware. I did expect ASG to detect and prevent that.

Has anyone else has similar experience or know how to tweak ASG to prevent this in the future?

    welcome aboard.

    You statement is a bit generalised.

    We need information like how you are setup
    1/. are you using the proxies
    2/. what mode are they in
    3/. which proxies
    4/. how many anti-virus packages are you using
    5/. what are you Packet Filter setups
    6/. how did your son's PC get access to the internet.

    Thanks for the response.

    1. I’ve got the HTTP Proxy enabled but I’m not sure that the browser was pointing to it at the time.

    3.  Not sure what you mean ‘which proxies’.
    4. Well here’s possibly the answer to my problem. I had turned AV for Web Security off for performance reasons and then forgotten to turn it back on again until now. Hmmm... bad!
    5. I’ve got the 3 pre-installed: IM, Email Messaging and Web Surfing. I also had to add one to permit DNS.
    6. Not sure what you’re asking.

    The interesting part is that is that in Web Security – HTTP/S, I’ve got ‘Block Spyware infection and communication’ ticked. I would have thought it would have been enough.
