Download not intercepted for scanning?

Hi,

does anyone know what's the way ASL V7 handles file downloads when browsing? I've seen it several times now that you don't get the ASL screen where the download progress is shown and after that the file is being scanned, but I get the normal Internet Explorer download dialog instead. As far as I can see this means that the file is not scanned by ASL. The site I'm downloading from is not added as an exception on the Web Security page, so that cannot be it. As a test I've added 'exe' as a blocked extension and that works, the dwonload is blocked. So the proxy is functioning.

Any idea, because now it looks like we don't have full virus protection by ASL.

ASL version in use is 7.402

Is it excluded from scanning by size?

Nope, max scanning size is set to 50Mb.

Here's for example the link I download from:

PCMag.com Shareware Library: Free Download - Movavi Flash Converter 2.8.6 - Misc. Multimedia Programs - Pcmag

Filesize is only 357Kb.

but it happens on many more sites.

For some reason I thought it inly caught on file size of 1 meg minimum. I may be wrong on that.

Afaik the proxy estimates the download time and if it is quite short it doesn't display the progress bar. But nonetheless the file should be scanned.

For small downloads, the file is scanned, but there is no need to show the download page. This size used to be 1MB, but Astaro decides whether to show the page now, depending on the time it estimates the download will take to complete.

Ok, thanks. So my assumption that when the download page is shown the file is scanned only then is wrong and in fact everything is still being scanned. That's a relief ;-)
