Hi;
We have a site that is currently using a trial licence, which allows "web filtering". When we change it to their full licence. They have decided that they don't want Web Filtering.
My Understanding.
Without "Web Filtering" they will not have the ability to run a web proxy.. (My understanding is correct so far..)
This also mean that if any machine on their network needs web access then there shouldn't be any proxy setting set within the browser. (My understanding is still correct so far..)
To follow, if they are not using the Astaro proxy, then if one pc downloads an update, lets say virus update, and then another pc downloads the same file, then the file will have been downloaded twice.
With "Web Filtering" enabled in the Astaro, Then we have access to "Web Security" there is a section under "Web Security -> Advanced" where you can enable/disable "HTTP Caching".
Now if they are using the Astaro, Web Security and HTTP Caching is enabled, and the pc's are setup for using the proxy, then if one pc downloads a file, and a second pc tries to downlaod the same file, then it will only be downloaded once, and the second pc, will get it from the HTTP cache.
My Question.
If you do not have a "Web Filtering" licence then is the "HTTP Cache" enabled or disabled by default. I realise that without the "Web Filtering" licence I cannot get to the Advanced tab. Our concern is that do we have to have "Web Filtering" licence to minimise downloads of duplicate files.
Thanks.
Trevor..
