Web filter exception

Do you have that category blocked?  If you need to leave it blocked, you'll need to create an exception to 'Content Removal' for uspto.gov.

No i do not have it blocked, I also tried to add it to the exception list (the entire URL with * and w/o *) no dice.

The correct syntax for an exception includes only the domain name ("uspto.gov"), not the URL and not the "http://".

I have *uspto.gov in there now, will this not work?

I always could get to the site itself, but when I drill down to the link provided the ASG blocks it.

so i finally got the ASG message saying that the site is "blocked"...


it says the URL you requested is blocked by a blacklist...


so?????

Check the blocked extension list for the HTTP Proxy... is .exe listed?  If so, that's why it's being blocked... that URL calls a .exe file on the site.  Try adding an exception for that URL that skips extension blocking.

Also, I'd like to point out that I wasn't entirely correct above when I told James that using "tess2.uspto.gov/" wouldn't work.  That would have worked with Bruce's catch that the block was on an exe, not because of the category of the URL.

But I was correct that having "*.uspto.gov" does not work; you must use the exact characters you want matched.  In fact, ".uspto.gov", "usp" and "gov" all work, too.

Prior to V7, you could use Perl regular expressions, but I don't think that's the case any longer.  Even then, the *  could not be used.

I am skipping all the checks in the exception. Now with the recent posts should I change the exception to:

*.gov and it should work?

so what i did was, I out gov in the exception and it seemed to work for me, lets see if the user has the same luck!
