AV Engines in Astaro VERY BAD!?

Hello guys,

i want to talk about the AV-Scan Engine in Astaro 7.3.X!

I hope that we get an better Scan engine like "Bitefender,Avast,AVG,Kaspersky etc.) than CLAM AV and F-prot or similiar!!!

I always using the ASG here in office and i have a VERY UGE Databse with Malware Sites and i must say the Webfilter detect around 20-45% of New Malware(or Malware that is Releases within 2 Weeks!!) and that is TO LESS i think!!!Also reaction to new Malwar samples ist TOO SLOW!!


A lot of Client-AVs, I am testing here in Virtual Machines detect between 70-99% of Malware released the last 2 Weeks!!


What are you guys thinking about the AV Engine in Astaro?
Its a pitty without Kaspersky(like inASG 5 i remember?)!

    7.300 does not use F-prot, it uses Clam and Authentium.  The 7.400 beta (released yesterday) introduces Avira in place of Authentium, with Clam still available as the second engine.  I believe you will be happy with the change.

    As far as blocking malware, the improved URL database introduced with the switch to Secure Computing's DB (7.302 and up) has improved detections.

    I would be interested in the specifics of the malware which was not detected.

    clam isn't the issue at all..matter of fact it routinely hangs with or even outperfoams the big boys.  What is Astaro missing?

    Hi There!

    In the new 7.400 release (which we just launched the beta of) we have replaced the Authentium (f-prot powered) AV scanner with the latest and greatest from Avira. Clam will remain, as it is essentially a 2nd AV scanner we can easily include due to the open-source nature.

    Avira recently scored extremely well in the well-known 3rd party testing of av-test.org, located below:

    Depends on what version of the Astaro Gateway you are running.....
