first of all I am telling you how my scenario looks like right now. We've got a 2Mbit SDSL line with serveral public IP addresses. The address of the default gateway for these hosts with the public IP addresses is the .50.
The ASG is in our public DMZ with the public IP .41 on the internal interface, the emails come from an upstreaming mailserver with the public IP .35, on which our mx record points to. In the ASG is also an additional interface which is configured for pppoe to a 16Mbit adsl line with dynamic addresses, this one is the default gateway of the ASG.
Currently the .35 accepts all incoming emails and then forwards them to the .41, our ASG. The internal users of our network are using the HTTP proxy of the ASG via the public .41 IP on the internal interface for surfing. They also use the .41 for outgoing SMTP. The .41, the ASG, uses the .35 as a smarthost.
What I want to do now is to abolish the upstreaming/smarthost .35 mailserver so that the ASG is the first instance who recieves emails and the last one who sends them out.
What I plan to do is this
- Turn of the upstreaming machine with the .35
- Change the IP of the internal interface of the ASG from .41 to .35
- Add an additional address to the internal interface with the address .41
- Remove the .35 from the smarthost settings in the smtp proxy
- Remove the .35 from the upstream host list in the smtp proxy
I tried this already out, but there is a huge problem. The adsl line is the default gateway of the ASG, so the emails are sent via this interface with dynamic IPs (not good :x). If I set the internal interface to the default gateway, which is the .50, outgoing email will work, but surfing is not working anymore over the adsl line, it also runs over the sdsl line.
Is there a way which allows me to set the .50 on the internal interface as the default gateway BUT to use the adsl line as a gateway for the http proxy?
