This morning we came to work and logged on to our network, attempted to open Internet Explorer and found that it was prompting us for usernames and passwords. We haven't seen this in a while. We inserted our usernames and proper passwords, hit the "Remember my password" check box and.. nothing, it prompted us over and over until in the end it just gave up and left us with an "Authentication Failed" message.
I immediatly checked our Astaro Security Gateway and found that the "Test Server" Authentication in Users -> Authentication under Active Directory was failing. I realised that this was because the password it was using to authenticate was at the time, incorrect. Fixed this, "Server Test Passed". Scrolled down to "Test Settings", put in my username and password, hit Apply - "Authentication test passed." Looking good.
Rebooted the Gateway just to be safe. Logged off to reapply the group policy and encountered the same problem with authenticating.
This is what I have inserted in the "Bind User DN" box "CN=kingfish,CN=Users,DC=FORD,DC=local"

I did find out that at 7PM last night the Gateway was updated.
Any ideas? It's not urgent as I can just turn off the proxy settings in everyone's IE but that's just a temporary solution hopefully.
