Has anyone out there, using this product in an educational ( K-12, University) enviornment been able to keep up with the anonymous proxies?
I have it selected as one of the catagories to block, but new ones seem to pop up daily that are listed as "not catogorized". If I block the "not catogorized" sites, we can't get any work done.
It's down to two choices here:
Block all sites except for those the students need access to (removes the need to pay for content filtering, yes?)
or
Switch firewalls
Smoothwall is advertising a solution for Education that checks the content of the page, not just the location it comes from.
They "claim" that their product stops the anonymous proxies from getting through.
If they offer a 30 day trial, and it works, I'm gone. I can't spend all of my time tracking down sites manually, especially when we have already purchased a product that was supposed to do it automatically.
