Cache Enabled = Slower? But should be Faster

Hi

Theory wise, the HTTP Cache Mode should make things faster but I am very sure with Cache Mode enabled, even surfing to the same homepage ( I configured firefox to delete everything when close to ensure not loading locally) is significantly slow.

Think other than I am not using SCSI (Mine came with SATA), in terms of RAM (3GB, Less than 25% Max Usage), CPU is Pentium 4 HT 3Ghz usage at less than 1% generally.

Any idea what could be wrong or this is the way it should be?

what url are you using for your test/ i would suggest trying different sized files/pages, and to rule out variations in dns resolve speeds you should try and d/l all of these files from the ip of the webserver directly instead of the dns name...

also from a hardware stand point how big is the harddrive in your asg unit is there a chance that it doesn't have very much room to cache very much data/

the server he has in his sig IIRC comes with an 80 gig drive which is much larger than required for smaller networks.
