anonymous proxies in log files

I don't know much about anonymous proxies other than our ASG is set to block them. Last week a local news station ran a story showing people how to use anonymous proxies to get around corporate firewalls.

So I checked our log files today to see if anyone was trying to use anonymous proxy sites and got about 10 hits. The problem is all of the url's listed in the log look innocent. I did a copy-n-paste on all the URL's and my ASG is still telling me they are anonymous proxies. Do anonymous proxies return a bogus address to try and be obscure in the logs? I need to be sure before I approach any of these users about these possible attempts to circumvent the ASG.

Any help?

    They look like standard url's to me.

    Are you using the transparent proxy server and how are your packet filter rules set up ?

    On a corperate network I would block all trafic aise from the proxy and lock changing the browser settings using group policy.

    yeah, I was thinking they are standard URL's - the ASG content filter is still telling me they are 'anonymous proxies' and blocking them.

    We don't use transparent proxy - everyone is forced thru the proxy address. The only filter exceptions we have are for the mail server.

    Well from what you say I asume that all the other ports like 8080 are blocked. Most proxy servers use this port. There are some that use port 80, have you got a packet filter rule to block port 80 outgoing ?

    Allso if the user is using a browser locked down by group policy then they cant set the port anyway.
