HTTP Authentication

HEllo Astaro Mania,

Is there any way to have a HTTP authentication without the Active Directory?

Thank you very much.

  • hello,

I just wanted to know how to configure it without the servers on it? then by defining the users only the allowed networks nor users can access the internet.

Hope you can give me some tips or procedures how ca i make this thing work.

  • I think you have some reading to do [:)]

You can add users in, one at a time in Astaro under user definitions.
Either that, or configure Astaro to use a backend database, (either Active Directory, Novell eDirectory or RADIUS).

Once you have the users in, set HTTP proxy to use User Authentication mode and select allowed networks etc.  There is a lot of documentation within Astaro help and at www.astaro.com (Support section).

Telling someone how to do something step by step means you don't really learn anything and when it comes to configuring a security device, not knowing this sort of stuff leads to security issues.  Have a go, then come back when you get stuck, good luck with your project.
  • www.astaro.com/kb has a very good explanation of how to configure proxy profiles, as well as a link to download the manual.
