All:
I upgraded to V7.009 this weekend from v6.313 to take advantage of the content filter. While it does seem to work, browsing, downloading and latency (ping) have been adversely affected. Example:
HTTP proxy disabled:
6.1 Mb Down/720Kb Up, Pings 30 - 50 ms
HTTP proxy enabled:
3.1 Mb Down/702 Kb Up, Pings 150 -250 ms
I had disabled Http cache, AV, and spyware during my tests.
V6.313 (HTTP proxy enabled) stats were very similar to V7.009 (HTTP proxy disabled). I assumed I had sufficient hardware to run V7 (see sig.). I found Williams tweaks, but I didn't fully understand all of them. I ran V6.313 on a dual P3-800 with 512 MB RAM.
Do I need to go a full 2 or 3 GB RAM or perhaps replace the old HDD with something newer? I have a IDE, SATA, and U320 scsi support on my motherboard. Should I go back to V6 and wait a while longer? I guess my only issue with rolling back, is I had to upgade my home license to V7 for the content filter to work.
Thanks
