HTTP Profiles and 7.009

Hello,

I have installed v7.009 upgrade to my home environment and my HTTP Profiles no longer work.

I am no longer prompted to enter a username and password when accessing the Internet.  In addition, I have unlimited access to all sites and this allows my kids to access information that I would like to protect them from.

What has changed in these rules that I need to be aware of.  I do see that there are changes to the formatting of URL's.  However, I don't see this as the cause of the problem.  My fallback action is Block All (a filter action that blocks all sites).

Has anyone encountered a similar issue and a fix that will address it (maybe I missed something in the release notes).

    After applying the 7.009 update, I can no longer create a new Proxy Profile.  When I do create one, I have to check the boxes in the Filter Assignment section to enable the filters.  Since this update, I'm no longer able to check these checkboxes on a new profile or when editing an existing profile.  If the profile has no filters assigned to it, it will not enable.

    Also, the up / down arrows are gone next to each filter assignment entry on this same section.

    I've actually gone back and deleted everything in the Web Security section, turned it off completely, rebooted the firewall, and started over and it still won't work.

    Hi Ian,

    All the profiles still exist and are not showing any errors when these are resubmitted.  They are not very complicated and I can't see where these might error.  What new scripting rules might I be considering?

    can you give us an short explanation of your configured profiles? That may give us an idea why it is no longer working... (you can send me a backup of your configuration as well, i can take a quick look tomorrow, please use sschnelle@astaro.com as email adress)

    Hello,

    I have just reloaded by earlier VMware snapshot until I find out what I have done wrong.  Can I provide a backup of this configuration or would you like me to install 7.009 update?  Here is my configuration:

    Global HTTP Settings:
    Allowed Networks: Internal (Network)
    Operation Mode: Transparent Mode
    Content Filter: Allow everything except selection below (Nothing selected)

    HTTP Profiles:
    Filter Actions: Allow All (Whitelist: All Categories Selected), Block All (Whitelist: www.astaro.com), Moderate (Whitelist: Some categories selected), Strict (Whitelist: Some websites listed)
    Filter Assignments: Administrators - Always (Administrators Group, Allow All Filter, Always Time Event), Adults - Always (Adults Group, Moderate Filter, Always Time Event), Kids - After School (Kids Group, Strict Filter, After school Time Event), Kids - Weekend (Kids Group, Strict Filter, Weekend Time Event)

    Proxy Profiles:
    One Proxy Profile defined: Home LAN
    Source Networks: Internal (Network)
    Filter Assignments: Administrators - Always, Adults - Always, Kids - After school, Kids - Weekend
    Fallback action: Block All

    I have revisited this issue.

    It appears that this was resolved by the following:
    (1) In Global HTTP Settings, set Operation mode to Basic User Authenticartion
    (2) My Administrators Group contained no members but had unlimited access to the Internet.  Adding a user to this group resulted in the resolution of the issue.  It appears that the profile applied to all users if there were no members associated with the group.
