How to allow nnn.somesite.com ....

I thought you can use a * in front of the domain!

Do a test to see it works, *.sitename.com and let us know.

Depends what version of Astaro that your using.  If using the V7 line up until 7.007 you can just use domain.com, the wildcard is assumed.
 
If your using 7.008, then it gets trickier as the whitelist has been changed from just a literal string format to Perl regular expressions.

What I found that worked for me, to allow any host for a specific domain is ".+\.domain.com" (take out the quotes).

Just a limitation of this specific implementation of perl regex (preg). There isn't just one version of regular expression language. There appear to be quite a few and they all have differences in language and syntax from each other.
 
I tried googling around for reference materials on preg and everything I found was extremely complicated and geared more towards parsing through large text files or validating credit card numbers rather than what we need which is fairly simple exact string matching.
 
I've got a couple of active support cases right now on several issues with 7.008. I'm going to hammer at them to get a new kb article up with a tutorial on Regex for Astaro. Asking for lots of examples. HEY GERT, you could make this happen quickly!! [:)]
