Dashboard Stats

Is anyone else out there noticing inaccutare numbers in their Dashboard statistics?

For example, my HTTP proxy shows over 7.8 million requests served today.  Since school is not in session, I find it very hard to believe these numbers.

And in the execituve report I am showing the folowing:

If the times listed are showing hours/minutes/seconds then that would be 21,743 hours divided by 24 hours which is 905 days.  I have had v7 installed on this computer all of two weeks, and v7 hasn't been out that long anyway.

    I'm thinking its inaccurate too.  We had a user away yesterday ill, he was in the office for an hour, however according to ASL web dashboard he did 23% of all web traffic yesterday and transferred 1.7GB of data.

    Examining his machine showed no streams etc etc ....

    Here is the current list of my top 10 domains.
    There is no way we have downloaded 81 gigs from Adobe.  No way.

    We have same the same problem here, since we update to 7.006. Looks like a premature update...

    The high usage (and huge amount of data transfer) on adobe.com is caused by Acrobat 7 trying to download its updates. For some reason, it keeps downloading the update and never stops, that is until you disable the Acrobat updates. This happens to one of our users. We found out that it happens only if you are updating from one version to another using the Autoupdate function. If you download the new version outside of the Autoupdate function, you will not have the problem.

    I think autoupdater sends the request for the update, sits there and wait until the update is downloaded by the proxy but doesn't know how to grab the update from the proxy so it starts another request. This process can loop indefinitely taking up a ton of your bandwidth.

    I also have a problem with the http proxy stats. My avg daily http pages requested stat is unusually high, to the tune of 30K/day. For a company of less than 100 people, this is ridiculous. I think this number represents the number of http connections made in a day, not the number of unique pages.

    What you are reporting may well be true about the Acrobat updates, but it would have been physically impossible to download all of the stats listed in the top10 domains in the amount of time that v7 had been installed.

    And if that were the issue, then Adobe would be in the log every day, but it is not.

    There were very few people/computers at work when the stats were reported.  School doesn't start until the 27th, so even now we don't have a lot of people here.

    I just took another look at my "Web Security Stats - today ".  This report must just be mis-named.  Mabe it's a running count, and these are the stats "as of today"?    If not, then I have some people who have been on for two weeks in just one day.

    And I have already downloaded 51 gigs today.  Both of which would be stretching it just a tad.

    Looks a lot like mine did.  The initial # I posted was 51 gigs at 1:42.  This figure had doubled within the hour, and the domans listed had changed.  I don't really think I can d/l that much with just a 10/10 internet connection.

    Maybe by Christmas break the log issue will be corrected.  Since I can't currently manage the http proxy white/black lists the way our district needs, I have re-attached the v6 hard drive and am back up and running with that.

    I had forgotten how fast and smooth the v6 interface was/is.  And now I can actually tell how much traffic any one individual user has been generating!

    Hi there, 

    due to a faulty optimization, the same web surfing data get added to the database over and over again causing inaccurate numbers.

    We are currently in progress of uploading ASG V7.007 which will fix this issue and will also clean up the web reporting database so all numbers are accurate again.

    Any ideas as to when the white/black lists may make it back into the HTTP proxy?

    TXGARobert, I've been told a few times over the past few months "soon"... I don't know any more than that... it certainly is a critical feature in some environments, we've had customers we've had to hold off of upgrading because of it... while most of our customers are corporate in nature, the executive always seem to want streaming video, and there's really not a good way to enable it (unless some poor admin wants to spend half his day whitelisting entire domains) without the regular expression whitelist / blacklist.  The sooner the better.

    I have a "rumour" that REGEX will be re incorporated back as per V6 in an up and coming release ... Have a client on ASG V6.x like you we need to say block youtube using wildcards but allow say BBC News for MD to see financial stuff (they are a finance firm) but cant move to V7 until .....

    I don't understand the decision making process they went through that called for the removal of the white/black list.  It's a serious "must have" here at school. I have gone back to v6 here at school and will stay here until it comes back.

    I hope they put the ability to assign groups to other groups back in as well.

    Upgraded our 425 to 7.007 last night

    The Web Security statistics issue looks well and truly fixed [[:D]]  , we are no longer reporting over 800GB through our 10MB pipe per day !!!

    Web Reporting is virtually instant, and does not lock up the web interface [[:D]] 

    Users > Authentication > Advanced > Backend  Query order - Still does not save your ordering changes [:(] 

    Also seems to be blocking lots of Spyware, this has always been 0 with 7.006
