Problems with Large Downloads

Hi,

Has anyone run into problems with completing downloads of large files? When I start downloading large files from either one or multiple sites, the webpage used by the firewall to display the status of the download will stop updating the download status. This error started when I reconfigure the antivirus to scan files at 800MB to scan ISO files. Not sure if this is a problem with the middleware, antivirus, or proxy. I’m using Astaro version 7.005 with 750Mb of RAM and a 1 GHz processor.

    1) The resources used to scan a 800MB file
    2) I've never heard of an infected ISO file.  Since its an image anyway, I'm unsure if a virus scanner would find a virus in it.

         keep in mind that Astaro version 6 conducted scans of downloaded files and beside 800Mb was an arbitrary number in the example used. There are downloads that are less then 800 but more than 50Mb.

    Hi,

    my ASG220 HA (6.305) + surf protection crashes with large files download.
    Yust today, while scanning a .zip ~160MB it crached and the slave ASG became master.

    Antivirus packages can't see what is inside of , and scan, a compressed image (.zip, .rar, .iso, etc) without first uncompressing it to memory temporarily. That's why your having problems with such enormous files. 750MB memory - whatever memory is used by the system - uncompressed ISO = alot less than 0. Yes, much of it is probably pushed over to swap instead of main memory, but hard drives are much slower than RAM and your probably then running into an issue with the download session timing out.
