Urgently need some one to fix the http

proxy.
I use the http proxy in standard mode.
Part the way through surfing a site eg www.pbase.com where I have an account, a page will be disallowed "failed". Hit the enter key twice and browsing continues, hit it once and nothing happens.

This happens in MS XP SP2 IE7 and Firefox v2.*** latest version and Mandriva 2007 x64 firefox v1.5.xx.

This happens to both time managed and open access users. The problem is becoming very annoying having been used to v6.xx where this sort of thing wasn't an issue.

    Hi Ian,

    please describe "will be  disallowed failed" a bit more. Do you get a content blocked page from the proxy? Or does this message appear in the logfile?

    what is displayed -

    "The Proxy server is refusing connections.
    Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections
    check proxy settings
    contact network admin
    try again"

    My quick check of the log when the condition happened didn't show any anomalies. I only had a couple of minutes before returning to work to review the log. I will have another go at the log tonight (1.40am at the moment), I have been up since 6.15am for an early conference call.

    sounds to me like the proxy isn't running, or the packetfilter/ips is dropping the packets. I would check /var/log/selfmon.log if there's a message about 'restarting httpproxy' and /var/log/packetfilter.log for dropped packets.

    Svens,
    a quick update. I don't get any http proxy or http restart messages, but I do get 2 or 3 a day socks restart messages.

    I will investigate the logs in detail tonight. Off to work shortly to see what last nights little exercise left in surprises lying around.

    lots of fails tonight while browsing www.pbase.com.
     
     Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

      
      Most likely causes:

    • You are not connected to the Internet. 
    • The website is encountering problems.
    • There might be a typing error in the address.
    What you can try:


    This happened while trying to upload one of the attached files.

    Any chance you could get some one to look at the continual categorizations issue?
