Astaro completely stopping SUSE installation

SUSE linux has remote installation sources from which users can update their computer with new or updated software.  Since I've upgraded from 6.x to 7.x all such traffic seems to get mangled.

I've added HTTP and FTP exceptions for all documented installation sources with no apparent affect.  I've added exceptions on my linux machine for outbount portscanning.  no change.

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this. 
I'm quite puzzled and I can't go back to v6 because no one will sell me a license for a home user.  

I'd very much appreciate a little help with this.  I'm flummoxed.

    I'm not sure this is of any help but I have no problem UPDATING opensuse through ASL V7.

    Searching through my logs isn't helpful: I can't find any error ...

    Ethereal on the router during update shows what you were expecting for: ftp and http...

    Dougga,

    if you like to return to V6, I was told that V7-license would work in V6 too.
    So there is no need to get a new license after upgrading your license-key.
    You should be able to install the ver. 7 license on your 6.3 box.

    Have you checked your IPS logs?  Watch a live log while you are performing one of these remote installs--we've seen a lot of problems with false positives when the P2P security options are enabled, most notably the WinMX and Edonkey rulesets... try disabling P2P filtering if you see any entries like that in your IPS logs.  I've also seen some issues with valid HTTP Proxy traffic being flagged as a SYN Flood attack; I've had to add exceptions to the WebAdmin to stop that from happening as well.  All of these issues are in Astaro Support's hands right now, hopefully they'll get them fixed soon.

    I did two things  that seems to have helped.

    1)  In SUSE I stopped using the YAST "Installation Sourceq" applet and started added sources using the software updater applet.  SUSE 10.2 seems to have moved away from the Yast infrastructure for updates but none of this appears to be documented.

    2) I added more sources and broadened the HTTP & FTP exceptions.

    I'm getting updates and can install new software.

    Yes, OpenSuse 10.2 moved away from yast. There are a lot of pissed off people about this....
